Kouryu chair

The Kouryu chair beautifully captures a cross-cultural exchange, seamlessly blending Japanese and Danish aesthetics. With its shared focus on quality, detail, and craftsmanship, the chair offers a fresh perspective on materiality and expression, reflecting both Japanese and Danish influences.

Crafted from Zelkova hardwood sourced from Honshu, Japan, the Kouryu chair showcases the distinctive grain and rich hues of this revered wood, traditionally used in temples and shrines. The Tatami seat, an innovative collaboration with Kyoto-based Yokoyama Tatami, breaks from convention with its soft, three-dimensional shape, enhancing both comfort and visual appeal.

The Kouryu chair was originally designed for Noma Kyoto 2024 in collaboration with Time & Style, Japan’s leading furniture maker. Now the chair is part of the Time & Style Collection.
